Dr. Levy is the founding director of Advanced Counselor Training & Supervision, LLC. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Practice as well as a master’s and specialist degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University (GSU). She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (#49513), a Licensed Professional Counselor in GA (#003609), a Certified Professional Clinical Supervisor (CPCS) in GA (#297), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS #01754). Before her retirement in December 2014, for 10 years Dr. Levy was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) at GSU. During her tenure in CPS she served as the Clinical Skills Coordinator, the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program Coordinator, and the Clinical Director for the CMHC program. Dr. Levy’s graduate level teaching was highlighted by her design and facilitation of an advanced skills course in Motivational Interviewing (MI). She has presented MI workshops locally and nationally.
As a part of her doctoral program, Dr. Levy focused on Supervision as an area of expertise in counseling. She has presented many supervision workshops, locally and nationally, in both the fundamentals of supervision and advanced specialty topics. In addition, she has facilitated “Sup of Sup”, supervision consultation groups and provided consultation to individual clinical
supervisors and mental health agencies.
Prior to her transition to academia in 2005, Dr. Levy was a practicing clinician at the Atlanta Relationship Center. As a clinician, Dr. Levy specialized in working with a broad range of mental health issues including but not limited to, adults and adolescents presenting with psychological symptoms resulting from being undiagnosed with a learning disorder and other neurological impairment, adults with Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse/dependence, educational counseling, relationship issues, and trauma.
